Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch eBook Reader

319qdlTMhFL._SL500_AA300_We were stuck this year, trying to figure out what to get are nine year daughter. My husband, ironically came up with the idea to get her a Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch eBook Reader. My daughter loves to read and some days {when there is no school} can read two books. She is currently is the top ranking student in her class and is in Accelerated Reading. She is in third grade and has a reading level of a fifth grader. Michaela really makes us proud with her outstanding reading skills. When she checks out books at school she checks out two at a time because she knows that she will have the time to get the both read and test on them.

It has become a habit on Monday nights, which happens to be the same night that she goes to Dance Class, to stop at Barnes & Noble and buy a new book. We have been doing this for about six months now and her little library of books in her room is growing. She has decided that some of the books that she likes to read are not all offered at her school, so she has decided to donate them so that the other kids that also like reading that series can enjoy the books too.

When she got the Barnes & Noble Nook Simple Touch eBook Reader she was thrilled. It deffinetly makes reading fun, because she can go to the local library or to the libraries website and check out books. There is a huge savings on buying books and it makes things really convienent and fun for her. She browses what is avail and checks out the books she wants. She is only nine years old and can operate it. It was totally worth the money that we spent. She was thrilled on her birthday.

Handmade Grape Clothes Basket

Here I found a unique way to not only hold dirty clothes, it could also house toys, books or hats and mittens. This is a Handmade Grape Clothes Basket was hand wrapped in these fun high quality check fabrics around cotton line. Than it was hand coiled and machine sewed to make the basket nice and sturdy.  The raw edge technique was used with a little fray to give it a beautiful textured feel and look. The fabrics used are all 100% cotton on both the inside and outside.

This Handmade Grape Clothes basket  Measures:  8.5″ High, 19″  across top, Base 5.5″ x 10.5″ and would make a handy cltohes basket for your child, with handles it is easy to transport the days laundry to the laundry room. I might even use this to hold activities for a car trip or even for items needed for a sleep over. This makes a great birthday gift, you can also fill this with kitchen items and give it as a shower gift.

Personalized Notebook Lined Journal

Everyone has stumbled upon the idea of keeping a journal at one time in their life. I recently received a small handmade journal from a dear friend. She gave me the journal shortly after the unexpected death of my younger brother. Having a journal has helped me in my healing process, dealing with my deep loss of my brother, who was only twenty years old. Being able to express my feelings on paper, refreshes and helps heal my soul.

I love the idea of having a Personalized Notebook Lined Journal. I would have my journal personalized to read something along the lines of ” The Written Memories”. I love to write and having a nice lined notebook journal is even better. When you have a place that is beautiful to write down your thoughts, one tends to be inspired to write more. A journal doesn’t have to be strictly for dealing with the loss of ones family, you can write about your every day life experiences.

How to Be the Best Bubblewriter in the World Ever!!!

I came across this book How to Be the Best Bubblewriter in the World Ever and I had to share it because it brings up so many memories from elementary school. When I was a little girl and had already “mastered” the art of writing my name and passing notes to my friends in class. I always loved to write in bubble letters, the bigger and bubblier the letters were, the better!!! Fast forward several years, and now my daughter, who will be nine this year, has found a desire to write in bubble letters too!! She makes sure that the sign hanging from her bedroom door is pretty clear (even in bubble letters) to her younger brothers that “NO BOYS ALLOWED”!!
This book will be added to her birthday list, she will be so excited to have it she will probably take it to school and share it with all her girlfriends!

For the mother’s who loves to read

“The Shack by William P. Young was originally written by Young for his kids as a way to explain who he is and what he believes. It is a story about Mack, a man whose daughter is kidnapped and brutally murdered. A few years after her murder, Mack receives an invitation from God to meet Him at the shack where they found his daughter’s bloody clothes. Mack goes and works through the meaning of suffering as he spends the weekend with the Trinity, uniquely portrayed (God the Father is a large black woman, for instance). The Shack has been a runaway bestseller, and would be good gift to read with your mother if you like deep conversation together.”  — SOURCE: www.about.com, May 5, 2010
