Burt’s Bees for bath and body

A wonderful treat for any woman is Burt’s Bees Lemon and Vitamin E bath and Body Oil.  This product is great for any skin type and its lemony soft fragrance that can be added to your bath water or directly applied to your skin after showering.  The oil is light and is applied with a low luster.

Sunglasses in Winter

Yes, you need them.  The glare off the snow can harm your eyes just as the sun in the warm, summer months can.  You should always wear sunglasses to protect your eyes if the sun is out enough to cause you to squint or strain your eyes at all.  Mine automatically adjust to the level of light so they’re always with me.  I’m trying to avoid further eye damage (I don’t want to wear coke bottles for glasses) as well as wrinkles.  The closer you get to middle-age, the more you start to worry about things like this.  Believe me.

When you’re young, you think nothing bad can happen.  The damage you do to your eyes when you are young can and will affect your vision as you age.  Take care of what you have.

Coconut Oil as Moisturizer

I’ve been researching coconut oil for cooking purposes (it’s supposed to be better than olive oil) and have found that many people use it for weight loss (big surprise).  What was really interesting was to read that it is a great skin moisturizer.  It softens the skin up nicely without all the added chemicals put into some lotions.  It’s also great as a massage oil.  I’m going to find a great organic extra virgin coconut oil and try it out!

Vitamins for Swine Flu

With all the panic over the swine flu (H1N1), are you wondering what you can do to avoid it?  Can you avoid it?  Is there anything a girl can buy, or take from her medicine cabinet, to help?

People should be ensuring their immune systems are in top form.  I’ve read a lot about how great Vitamin D is for your immune system (is it a coincidence that flu season is worse at the time of year when people are indoors more, not out in the sun, naturally making Vitamin D?).  I’m definitely putting Vitamin D on my shopping list.  Other things to consider would be Vitamin C, E, and A.  Bioflavonoids are also good.  Zinc is another supplement that, if you aren’t getting enough from food sources, you might want to talk to your doctor about all of these BEFORE swine flu hits your house.

Definitely something to think about.  We’re not in a panic at our house over the swine flu.  A flu is a flu to me.  Now if this winter things take a drastic turn for the worse, then that may change but with good hygiene and immune system boosters, I’m hoping to keep it out of our house, or at least limit its time here.
