DIY Maxi Skirt

So I love “pinning” on Pinterest, I love finding new things that I can make and wear. I was shopping for an Easter dress or skirt today and could not find anything that I would wear, let alone the price of the skirts and dresses are outrageous. I have a sewing machine and have sewn many things in the past. I have never attempted to create a skirt before. So while my shopping was a fail for something to wear I decided to head over to our local Joann Fabrics and look for a fun knit print to make a skirt out of.

Not only did I find one fabric I loved I found four!! For the price of a dress that I tried on, I was able to buy enough fabric to create four great DIY Maxi Skirts. I found an easy to follow instructions on Pinterest found here. Here a few pictures of my finished product. I would like to also add that I loved the pattern that I followed I would use elastic thread in the waist line in my next skirts, just because I like the fit better. Here is a link on how to sew with elastic thread.

Do you love Headbands? Need Storage? Check out this fun Headband Holder!!

As you know my daughter is 9 years old, and has ever changing taste. Every day seems to be something new. Headbands have taken over her dresser, the bathroom counter top, the kitchen table, lets just say they are everywhere!! I really love shopping online and recently found this awesome Headband Holder than you can customize with your child’s initial!! This is it, the headband saver, I wonder if she will overnight it? I can hardly wait to order one, lets face it, if you have girls you have to know they come with A LOT of accessories!!

The headband holder is going to be one of the best gifts I have found yet to date. I would love to be able to see her dresser top again.  Headbands have seriously taken over!  Michaela attends dance and has to have her hair out of her face. She wasn’t in to headbands at first until she realized that the older girls were wearing them too {She has a friend in high school that also goes to her dance studio and is a headband wearer as well as a role model to Michaela}.

How many of you have girls with a ton of accessories? How do you control the mess? What types of things do you use to keep things organized? I try to use a lot of small  Rubbermaid storage tubs with lids, for the rubber bands, brushes and combs, barrettes, clips, I like to use a neat little office organizer (see picture below) and baskets for hair sprays, gels and other odds and ends that girls need!  All of my storage I found at either Target or Office Max.

Make your own Sugar Scrub!

One of the best gifts I got was from my mother last year. My skin is super sensitive and I usually can’t use much to wash it because it usually breaks out like crazy. My mom sent me home with a homemade Sugar Scrub that I swear by now. My skin is seriously so soft and smooth and it doesn’t break out like it used to.

Here is a list of things that you will need to make the Sugar Scrub:

1- glass jar

*Sugar

*Dawn Hand Rejuvenating Soap/ Great Value Walmart Brand Hand Rejuvenating Soap for half the price.

First Step is to decide how big you want your glass jar to be. I choose  one that has the flip top lid with rubber seal, because I keep this in my shower I didn’t want to be unscrewing a lid and have it rust out on me. The jar I choose was by Le Parfait jar that I found at a garage sale, however you can also find them on Amazon.

Than I fill the jar with sugar leaving about 3/4 of an inch space from the top of the jar.

Than I add the Great Value Hand Rejuvenation Soap about 1/4 to 1/2 inch above the sugar

Leaving about a 1/4 space from the top

Than I take a spoon and stir!

You don’t want to add too much liquid soap it should be a fluffy paste. When you add it to your hands in the shower and add water it will lather up nice and clean your skin beautifully.

And this is the end result!!! It smells great because the soap scent is Pomegranate!

I use this on my face, arms, and legs. The first time I did use this on my legs I used it after I shaved and than realized I needed to shave again because it really exfoliates the dead skin! My skin always feels amazing after wards.

This makes great gifts, for birthday’s, hostess gifts, I even made them for my kids’ teachers as part of their Holiday gifts!!

ENJOY!!

Save the Date Rubber Stamp Set

I love getting a wedding invite or a save the date in the mail. Are you a crafty person who loves to make their own invites for special events? Check out this Save the Date Rubber Stamp Set I found. Are you planning your wedding? Here is a creative way to send out your “Save the Date” to all your family and friends.  Some may wonder when you should send out “Save The Date”, according to the Knot they say that as a general rule, it’s best to start spreading the news at around six months prior to the ceremony (eight months for a faraway destination). This gives wedding guests plenty of time to book their travel, save a bit of cash, and ask for days off from work. Any earlier, and they may toss the notice aside. Any later, and it might as well be an invitation.

My cousin had sent out a “Save The Date” It was amazing and I really spent a whole day trying to find it, I had saved it because it was so neat. I unfortunately could not find it to share with you but it was a picture both my cousin and her fiance were wake boarding in clothes and she was holding a wooden sign with hand painting on it saying “Save the Date” with the date on it. I love creative ideas that couples come up with to share their special day. Did you send out a Save the Date to some of your guests? What did you send?

Baby Wearing Fleece Pullover

When my children were little {well I should say, wearable, they are now 9,7,4} I would have loved to have had something like this unique Baby Wearing Fleece Pullover. Many a times we would head off to our local Farmers Market in the crisp fall weather, wanting to keep my hands free for carrying bags and buying I would wear my children on my back. I would bundle them up so much that I could barely get them in the carrier and get them on my back. I was afraid they would get cold.

No worrying about your child getting cold with this unique Baby Wearing Fleece Pullover. This is genius, all you do is get your child in the carrier and put the carrier on your back and put on your Baby Wearing Fleece Pullover. You stay warm as well as your child and your hands are free for shopping at the Farmers Market. There are so many things you can now do with your child on your back, who is now protected from the weather, you can go for a walk, visit the park, pumpkin patch and much more while your child stays warm.
