Long Prom Dresses are hot this year!

So hot new styles are hitting the racks this year for Prom 2013.  There are always a ton of styles and sizes available at Pacific Plex.  Prom is a fun exciting time for most girls in high school, they look forward to it, plan for it, and even page through the newest article of M Magazine, Twist, Seventeen, and many more. Some of hottest looks this year are long prom dresses.

I have a nine year old that loves to dress up, my mom often finds some old prom dresses at thrift stores or garage sales and keeps them in the toy room at her house for her grand daughters! My daughter Michaela and my niece Mazie love dressing up and pretending like they are going to Prom. I took them to my nephew’s Winter Formal and they both sat at the edges of their seats admiring and carefully looking over every detail as they walked past us at the grand march. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of the winter formal and dressing up!

Long Prom Dresses

I love Prom Season, it happens to be my daughter’s favorite thing too. Yes, I know she is only nine years old but she loves to go to watch her cousin Isaiah and his girlfriend Kiersten get all glammed up for Prom. My daughter loves to watch all the girls walk by with there hair all done up nice, and the fancy shoes. Most of all she loves the long prom dresses, yes, she loves them long.  My daughter Michaela is not one for showing off too much skin. {I hope to remind her of this when she is a teenager}.

yhst-81261434853532_2250_881567757My daughter is in dance and some of the outfits she has to wear she thinks are too revealing! {did I mention I was going to remind her of this when she was a teenager?}  I know that when Michaela is old enough to go to prom, everything will have to be approved by her dad first, yes she is a huge daddy’s girl.

My nephew just asked his girlfriend to Prom in the most unique way. I guess these days you don’t just walk up to them and ask them. Nope, he went to her house and took pictures of different things in her home. Than each picture was numbered, if you look at the photo above you will see that she had a card that read ” To solve the puzzle, follow the picture clues, a wonderful prize will be waiting for you”. Than each picture had a letter that she would use to solve the puzzle “Hangman style”. Once she solved the puzzle, which was FRONT DOOR, there was my nephew asking her to Prom! Cute huh?

 

Prom Dresses, The best part of Prom

On this sunshiny morning I reflect back on my time at Prom. Let’s face it, most of us have been there and done that already?! Right? Well I have at least. I recently took my nine year old daughter and eleven & seven year old niece to my nephew’s winter formal called JOBS. The girls all sat at the edge of their seats from the front row, watching in admiration. As each couple walked by, they studied each dress,  all of its details including the accessories. When their oldest cousin Isaiah and his girlfriend and date Kiersten {pictured below} walked out onto the stage the girls went crazy!! Smiles beaming from ear to ear, about to explode with excitement the girls were giddy! I don’t even remember how long it took for over 200 couples to walk across the stage, but the girls never got bored.

Before we headed to the grand march, the girls had their fun dressing up in old prom dresses that their Grammie had purchased from garage sales. The girls had so much fun that they could hardly wait to leave to go watch all of the couples and all the pretty prom dresses. So I was recently at my nephew’s Winter Formal that he went to with his date.
