2013 Prom Dress Trends: Long Prom Dresses, Asymmetrical Necklines, Embellished Bustiers and More!

Prom is fast approaching. Are you excited? I love seeing all of the hot trends and what’s in store for the prom season. What do you think of some of the trends this year?

Long prom dresses are the thing this year. I feel like it goes back and forth between the long and short lengths, but this year the top sellers were the longer lengths. 

Pacific Plex--asymmetrical

 

Asymmetrical necklines are a fun way to add a little “pizazz” to a dress. This also provides some great detailing so a necklace isn’t necessary.

Pacific Plex--bedazzled bustier

A bedazzled bustier keeps the emphasis on the top of the dress since the all-over bling gets a little overwhelming (and not to mention, makes the dress super heavy!). This is a fun way to add a little sparkle and shine without going over the top.

Prom “season” was always my favorite time in high school. Once January hit, I feel like everybody got the “prom jitters” and that’s all that was talked about until April, when Prom night finally arrived. I have so many memories of dress shopping with my mom, picking out shoes, flowers, and accessories to match, getting ready with my friends, having my hair done, taking pictures, and of course dancing the night away and having a blast! I was fortunate enough to go to prom three years in a row and every year brought something amazing.

Now that it’s time for my daughter to go to prom, I am so excited to be a part of it. We started looking at dresses online last night and she already found her favorite! That didn’t take as long as I thought it would. She’s pretty picky! All she knew in starting out her search was that she wanted a long prom dress. They are in style this year! I love the dress that she chose and I know she will look stunning. Now to pick out flowers and accessories to match!

If you eat, sleep, and breathe fashion, you’ll want to keep up-to-date in “tweet time” on everything going on in the fashion world.  Go to Style’s Fashion Feed and check out all the latest tweets within the fashion world.  I was surprised to see Dazed Magazine tweeting about Tokio Hotel (remember Wednesday’s post?).  I really am behind in the who’s who in the music industry.  Everybody else knows who they are. 

Anyway, check out the fashion feed.  It’s a great way to find people in the fashion industry you want to follow on your Twitter.

Seventeen Magazine’s Fashion Finder

If you like fashion and you have an iPhone, you can download the Fashion Finder app through Seventeen and then get busy!  Check out the latest looks and then find it near you so you can go shopping.  It even has personal shopper capabilities.  If you include contact information, it can let you know if your size is in stock by calling the store (when they’re open), verifying its availability and then letting you know via text or email.  Is that personal service or what?  To find out more, click here.
